CBSE is going to have a huge responsibility of conducting both the Engineering and Medical nationwide common entrances from 2013, Apart from ISEET , a common entrance test for Engineering, it was reported that starting from year 2013 CBSE will be conducting AFMC entrance test , now the news is that CBSE will be conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Under-graduate courses from 2013.
Reportedly The Medical Council of India has also revised the syllabus for NEET-UG and Union Health ministry has also maintained that existing reservation policies would not be disturbed.
“A few state governments had expressed concerns about the proposed NEET particularly with regard to the syllabus for the NEET for UG, reservation of seats, medium of examination, as well as their own preparedness to introduce the scheme from the academic year 2012-13 and whether once introduced some of their seats would go unfilled because of high merit. The government has addressed all the concerns” Said Ghulam Nabi Azad as quoted on ToI.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be eliminating the problem of multiple entrance tests and allow class 12th students to appear for a single nation wide medical entrance examination to get admission to almost all medical colleges in India, NEET will also be used as common entrance test for all the private medical colleges in the country.
NEET UG will create a single merit list for close to 35,000 MBBS seats across the country including seperate merit lists for states, minorities and SC/ST quotas, and reportedly as decided by Medical Council of India all the Management quota candidates for all the private medical colleges should also come from the national merit list from NEET UG.
Apparently parliament need to amend the laws which were setup to constitute Under-graduate courses at the AIIMS in New Delhi and Post-graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh to bring in these courses into NEET’s purview.
